Job Description
Work in an agile software development team to complete backlog items, working in conjunction with other developers within NBCUniversal and engineers from external companies.
Test and create automated tests for your code, ensuring every function, service, and object is compatible with your teams work and with the many systems within the system portfolio.
Act alongside other senior data engineers, help formulate best practices and setting up toolsets and procedures for the team, leveraging internally available tools and communicating with other internal development & product teams.
Stay up to date on new development and platform technologies, make recommendations for the right tool for the job, and take the lead in setting up those tools and training other developers on them.
Communicate with business partners to understand the needs of the user and implement those ideas in software.
Create documentation for developers as well as business users to help them understand your products.
Maintain cloud-based platforms and environments of supported applications, troubleshooting and patching functional issues and data issues in lower or production environments when necessary.
Support all of data engineer within TV everywhere stack – end to end, Peacock – end to end, Fandango – end to end – All within operation mode right now
Cubical setting – work mainly independently on tasks, but support each other as a whole and have team calls 2X a week, friendly and easy going, hard- working
Day-to-day activities:
Operationalizing data
Consumer data operations
Supporting and working on enhancing the two systems
working on algorithms, data operations
Makes/Codes the data for the database
Someone who can do front end to back-end
Some analytics but does not want a data analyst
Coding
Stand ups on Tuesday and Thursdays
Working on projects as needed
Very beginning stages of implementing and utilization of data systems – helping to build out new system/tools along with enhancement capabilities.

Strong understanding of Data warehousing concepts
Proficient in SQL with analytical thought process
Proficient in Python for building UDFs and pre-processing scripts - Proficient in sourcing data from APIs and cloud storage systems
