Quality Engineer
Location: Sparks Glencoe, MD Onsite Position
Time: 8am -5:00 pm
The Quality Scientist I is responsible for applying basic scientific principles to routine laboratory work, and for gaining experience in the application and interpretation of the department procedures. Will perform assigned routine laboratory tasks and learn the application of Quality procedures to ensure compliance. Works with SAP enterprise system to enter laboratory data and release material. Typically involved in routine testing of products and/or stability testing. Implements tasks and participates on teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Will work as member of Molecular Quality Control team to perform release testing of reagents for the ProbeTec, Viper XTR, Viper LT and BD COR Systems. Other lab duties as assigned, including annual product stability testing, environmental monitoring for Molecular Operations and Instrument Manufacturing, and proficiency panel testing.
• Ensures documentation compliance and process documentation. Interaction limited to areas such as Operations and other Quality groups.
• Performs a variety of assignments within the Molecular QC lab in support of assigned plant operations to ensure the highest standards are met for products. This could include testing of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods using a variety of testing techniques.
• Performs general laboratory duties (i.e., lab cleaning, environmental monitoring, routine instrument maintenance, etc.) as directed by departmental SOPs.
• Handles hazardous materials, including chemicals and biological samples, in the proper manner as established by safety and company policy.
• Assists in documentation writing & revising including test methods, SOPs, etc. as required.
• Assists in completing tasks in change controls, deviations, validations, and Quality Notifications with supervision.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Knowledge of PC spreadsheet (Excel, Minitab), word processing, and database applications. SAP experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently within the context of a team.
• Ability to record, analyze and interpret data, while ensuring that data is recorded accurately in accordance to guidelines.
• Ability to determine causes of process or testing errors and appropriate next steps with supervision.
• Ability to follow written instruction and perform day-to-day activities.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry or other related field.
