Agile Lead Consultant – Lansing, MI

Job Summary
The Agile Lead Consultant will work closely with business and technical individuals to develop and perform activities allowing the development of Agile skills, the improvement of processes and, ultimately, self-sufficiency in Agile approaches. The role of the Agile Consultant is to share their experience and observations with all people involved in an agile initiative (executives, other stakeholders, delivery team, project managers, governance committees, project office, architects etc.) to make sure the best practices are being used. Agile Consultants support the start-up of teams/projects, give advice to improve the application of agile ways of working throughout projects, and spread best practices. At the more senior levels, they craft transformation roadmaps which enable organizations to successfully adopt Agile at scale and often in a distributed environment.

 

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Ensure successful identification and mobilization of divisional Agile transformation road-maps
  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify strategic business objectives that are well-suited for Agile methodology
  • Conduct preliminary discovery to assess organizational readiness of candidate transformations
  • Propose a prioritized, sequenced portfolio of transformations based on divisional change capacity
  • Execute on-boarding playbook process to ensure successful transformation launch through the early sprinting
  • Ensure all Core and Extended team members experience appropriate Agile Training
  • Tailor Agile adoption strategy for each team, regularly assessing collateral and engagement effectiveness toward targeted outcomes
  • Conduct retrospectives, regularly assessing engagement effectiveness toward targeted outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous development of Agile Operating Model playbook and knowledge share
     

Required Experience and Qualifications

 
  • The qualified candidate will have at least 5-7 years' overall experience in an Agile Coach role
    • In a client-facing role, building relationships with senior executive stakeholders and being viewed as a trusted adviser on transformation initiatives.
    • In a hands-on delivery role within a large-scale operating model transformation focused on improving the business value of technology, ideally, Agile (or similar DevOps, ITIL/ITSM, Product Management, LEAN/Design Thinking, etc.)
  • They must have both Agile Subject Matter Expertise and ability to lead, mentor and coach at all levels through to the c-suite. Several years of agile experience to draw upon will be key and these people are likely to be well connected into the wider Agile community.
  • 3+ years in an agile transformation role
  • 5+ years of pragmatic software development and delivery experience
  • Experience in delivery teams using a variety of agile practices: stand-ups, pairing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, retrospectives and whole-team approach
  • Deep understanding of Kanban Method other reflective-improvement frameworks
  • Broad understanding of agile methodologies/frameworks including Scrum, XP, and SAFe
  • Ability to facilitate retrospectives, project kick-off activities and other ceremonies
  • Ability to effectively gain buy-in and teach practices, principles and values
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of an organization
  • Exhibits natural servant leadership skills and attitude
  • Continuous learner and natural teacher
  • Bachelor' s degree or equivalent experience
  • Up to 80% Travel may be required

Duration:             6 Month Contract
