Market Analyst - Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence

**W2 contract ** REMOTE to start ** Ridgefield Park, NJ **

The Market Analyst will lead consumer electronics market analyses that result in actionable recommendations for competitive marketplace advantages. This function is tasked with enabling Sales and Marketing teams at our client to position their products to outsell competition. This includes providing strategic advice to senior management and manage strategic analytics projects across consumer business divisions

The position will be responsible for market analysis covering sales channel, competitors, products and industry, focusing on all Consumer Business Division product categories, including television, digital video, audio, imaging, IT and home appliances.


Industry Analytics:
  • Creation of mid to long term forecasts based on available and projected industry data for Consumer and B2B division communication to both internal and external audiences
  • Utilize actionable data to create advanced sales and marketing forecast models to predict future success
  • Analyze industry trends, patterns, early warnings and forecast. Utilize syndicated and other data sources weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly to assess demand, channel and consumer trends, addressable market size and consensus forecast outlook for CBD and B2B product categories
  • Oversee total addressable market analysis: Internal, external view of all consumer and B2B product categories
  • Sell-in and sell-through sales data analysis using syndicated data sources
  • Macro-economic analysis
  • Analyze time-sensitive marketing data and develop action items (minimum weekly). Recommendations should be summarized for weekly distribution, and results of action items should be tracked for ROI analysis to be presented to top management

Competitor Analysis:
  • Provide critical analytical support for business decisions regarding competitive threats to senior management
  • Market share and average price index comparison
  • Analyze available data to triangulate competitor strategies based on observed activities and make actionable counter-recommendations to executive leadership
  • Marketing / Promotion competitive assessment
  • Channel inventory analytics
  • Product portfolio analysis and competitive threat assessment

Market Analysis:
  • Create internal and customer presentation material on issues relating to the state of the business and industry topics of strategic importance to Samsung
  • Collaborate with industry experts and 3rd party vendor partners to provide executive summaries and actionable insights
  • Lead discussion with assorted Data Merchants and Industry research partners and thought leaders (NPD, CEA, Forrester, IDC, etc.) as well as topical experts
  • Synthesize analyst reports and compile results, forecasts and business insights for CBD Leadership team

Scenario Planning:
  • Provide analysis and recommendations of topics of strategic importance to Samsung
  • Analyze forecasted outlook of the economy, industry, competitors and channel to determine their potential impact on sales objectives
  • Generate scenarios for each case and present associated actionable recommendation
  • Recommend sales and marketing strategies through scenario planning process to achieve sales objectives
  • Measure effectiveness of marketing programs for continuous improvement


Special Projects:
  • Lead various projects as needed, such as ad hoc analysis, executive presentations, strategy development, special project leadership, etc.


Performance Standards
  • Real-time data analysis and scenario planning
  • Insightful recommendations that are fact-based. Insights leading to actionable scenario planning recommendations
  • Accurate, timely and insightful analysis of macro-economic indicators, news and forecast. Regular updates to CBD and B2B organization executive leadership
  • Comprehensive Market analysis that provides authoritative and valuable intelligence to marketing, sales and executive teams
  • Identify competitive moves in pricing, promotion, marketing tactics, inventory and product. Make strategic portfolio positioning recommendations for consideration by marketing and sales
  • Analyze industry size and trends: total addressable market, demand forecast, timely submission forecast for both internal and external customers
  • Timely and accurate customer business planning


Special projects: timely and insightful analysis of strategies and performances of Samsung and competitors. Data-driven recommendations from analyzing marketplace performances of Samsung in relation to competitors and the industry


  • Bachelors degree in marketing, business or engineering/sciences
  • 3+ years of experience in market/data analysis or marketing
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely present complex findings and ideas to senior leadership
  • NPD Group or AC Nielsen experience preferred
  • Consumer Electronics or Technology experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain ownership of projects, willingness to take initiatives and flexibility to create and accept challenge and innovation are particularly important
  • Ability to work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills and facility for establishing relationships cross-functionally and cross-divisionally
  • Analytical skills; Communication and presentation skills; Ability to garner support and collaborate efficiently across multiple departments and functions; Critical thinking and decision-making
