Part-Time Hours will flex between 7am-7pm, weekends required.

 

Job Description:

 

Ensures all solid waste is properly removed, scanned, segregated, packaged, transported and staged for disposal:

• Remove waste from unit compactors or waste bins in soiled utility rooms, offices, labs, public areas or any other designated area throughout the facility as necessary.

• Transport waste from designated areas throughout the facility in a covered leak proof bin/container.

• Transport waste from the unit compactors in the soiled utility rooms using the designated trashporter.

• Transport all waste to waste management room to screen for radioactive waste

• Transport waste from waste management room to compactor on the loading dock(s) for disposal

• Dispose of waste by dumping it in an authorized compactor on the loading dock(s).

 

Process Recyclables generated in client areas:

• Ensures recyclable waste bins are properly labeled

• Remove recyclables from each area using approved recyclable transportation bin only

• Transport recyclables to designated staging areas using approved recyclable transportation bin

• Stage recyclable waste as per guidelines based on type of recyclable

• Transport recyclables to the dock(s) for disposal

 

Bale cardboard using cardboard baler and stage bales for transport:

• Breakdown cardboard boxes

• Construct cardboard bales using baler

• Pull constructed bales from baler using forklift and stack bales neatly

• Maintain waste management room free of loose cardboard and boxes

• Transport cardboard bales to loading dock using power jack

Removes regulated waste from soiled utility rooms, labs, offices and other assigned area throughout the facility as necessary:

• Remove regulated medical waste bins (including red bag, sharps, pathological, trace chemo and other non-RCRA waste) from designated areas throughout the facility

• Transport regulated medical waste in a closed leak proof bin to waste management area for staging preparation

• Transport regulated medical waste bin from waste management room to loading dock and stage for removal.

• Remove confidential documents from locked bins and transfer to approved locked transport bin

• Transport confidential documents in a locked bin to staging area

• Transport confidential documents from staging area to dock(s) for removal/destruction

• Obtains manifest for confidential document destruction and submits to Manager

 

Ensures all hazardous regulated medical waste is properly scanned, segregated, packaged, transported and staged for removal and transportation:

• Transport full or empty regulated medical waste bins from dock to waste management room. All regulated medical waste bins must be closed prior to transportation

• Scan all waste brought into waste management room for low levels of radioactivity utilizing scintillators

• Separate and stage radioactive waste for removal from waste management room by the Radiation Safety Department

• Weigh full regulated medical waste bins and document weight

• Package, tag, and label pathological and regulated medical waste according to regulatory standards

• Transport packaged pathological waste or regulated medical waste in closed leakproof bin and stage on dock(s) for removal

• Verify accuracy of regulated medical waste transportation manifest and sign it (requires valid DOT certification).

 

Ensure Waste Management Room, Bins and Equipment are clean and in good order:

• Clean and disinfect the waste management room walls and floor

• Organize all bins and equipment

• Ensure waste management room floor is free of debris

• Dry mop waste management room floor

• Damp mop waste management room floor using properly diluted germicidal solution daily

• High and low dust all surfaces including all equipment and accessible pipes

• Scrub floor using auto scrubber filled with properly diluted cleaning solution

• Clean and disinfect waste bins according to approved procedure

• Police waste management room entrances and ensure they are clear of debris, waste, equipment, etc.

• High and low dust all surfaces

• Report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or lead

 

Ensure that mops or curtains are cleaned and disinfected for use:

• Wash mops or curtains according to the designated wash cycle

• Dry mops or curtains thoroughly using designated drying cycle

• Place clean dry curtains in designated area

• Separate and bag mops according to established size and color

• Transport clean mops to staging areas

 

Performs standardized procedures for the maintenance and cleaning of grounds as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual:

• Follows all relevant policies and procedures. Utilizes equipment and supplies available that are the most efficient and effective for each assigned tasks as reviewed during training.

• Sweeps and removes trash from loading docks.

• Utilizes and operates ground sweeping equipment such as walk-behind vaccums and ride-on Sweeper.

• Polices grounds and removes trash and other debris from sidewalks, staircases, entrances, and along the perimeter curbs.

• Cleans and disinfects all waste receptacles on grounds.

• Sweeps grounds and removes trash from sidewalks.

• Utilizes and operates grounds cleaning equipment including walk-behind vaccums, ride-on sweeper.

• Performs the removal of gum from the sidewalks according to procedures using the gum removing equipment and power washer.

• Performs snow removal from center’ s perimeter grounds.

• Utilizes and Operates snow removal motorized and non-motorized equipment when needed including snow plow.

• Completes all work within timeframe established by supervisor.

• Inspects all work upon completion.

 

Demonstrates performance of standardized procedures for maintenance/cleaning of assigned areas as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual:

• Follows all relevant policies and procedures. Utilizes equipment and supplies available that are the most efficient and effective for each assigned tasks as reviewed during training.

• Cleans entrance glass using window washing kit and properly diluted cleaning solution within timeframe established by supervisor.

• Performs hard surface cleaning and maintenance procedures as per training and policies and procedures

• Performs carpet care procedures as per training and policies and procedures

• Performs full cleaning procedures (seven-step) for designated areas    

• Maintains lobby and corridors floor dry during inclement weather

• Removes trash from lobbies and corridors

• Cleans and disinfects lobby trash receptacles

• Maintains sanitizer dispenser stocked

• Maintains lobby umbrella bag dispensers stocked

• Cleans sanitizer dispenser and support pole  

• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms following restroom cleaning procedures; replenish supplies as needed.

• Maintains and cleans outdoor environments as assigned (e.g. floor, chairs, tables, stairs)

• Responds to services calls (e.g. carpet adjustment, spill clean up, refilling restroom dispensers etc.)

• Cleans wet floor signs.

• Completes all work within timeframe established by supervisor.

• Inspects all work upon completion.
