Product Designer

ektello is searching for Product Designer to work for one of our top hospitality and tourism clients in Miami, FL. Our client is one of the top cruise line operators in the world.

Responsibilities
  • Alternate between being embedded in product teams and singularly focused on experiential projects as needed.
  • Resilient to ambiguity, change and a little chaos, this role is multifaceted and might evolve over time for the needs of the organization. Sometimes the direction will be crystal clear, other times we start with an empty whiteboard.
  • Work closely with design leads, product analysts, and engineers to shape and execute the end to end digital experience for millions of client guests and crew across all digital touchpoints including native app, web, kiosk, environmental & immersive, digital signage and beyond.
  • Brainstorm, concept and execute on key features for a variety of digital and experiential products.
  • Visualize ideas and requirements to aid understanding and alignment across disciplines.
  • Help define and adapt a design language that resonates with our individual brands yet spans across many uniquely different digital guest experiences.
  • Work with leads and analysts to synthesize and balance between business requirements, guest feedback and stakeholder feedback.
  • Advocate for changes, refinements and ongoing improvements with relentless design rigor.
  • Digitize, iterate, and maintain documentation including moodboards, comp explorations, pitch and info decks, wireframes or flow diagrams, redlines, mockups, prototypes, animations, etc.
  • Be a steward of process to help drive efficiency, share across teams and work streams, communicate system updates, reduce rework, and overall refine deliverables so that our teams can build & ship world class digital products.
  • Maintain, support and help mature a family of connected pattern libraries, toolkits and styleguides currently in their infancy.
  • Maintain the highest bar of quality across platforms and work streams, ensuring excellence in design and usability for everything that gets in the hands of guests, crew and employees.
  • Pick up a marker and participate in every step of the design process, from discovery to concepting, testing and delivery.
  • Support, advocate and adhere to accessibility standards, because design is for everyone.
  • Help get products and features to the finish line, working closely with agencies, vendors and in-house teams to collectively push through the rigors of product delivery, including iteration and bug-tracking, and overall readiness for testing, demos and executive reviews.
  • Experiment with robust prototyping tools to share design thinking and help clarify and align with stakeholders, executives and partners.
  • Reports to the Director, Product Design to help own and drive creative vision for executive-level presentations
  • You can bundle up big ideas and micro details into a neat little package, translating the right story into visuals, and presenting them to stakeholders, leadership and executives with clarity and vision
  • Ability to chart out holistic connections between our digital products, threading them together into functionally beautiful stories
  • Partner with design team and executives to intake variety of content and nuanced details, work with leadership to define and align to a critical story arc, then build high level slides to tell the right story, with polish and finesse
  • Uphold super high quality of brand standards, and understand the variety of audiences needed for success

Qualifications
  • Degree in Design, Human-Centered Engineering, Anthropology or Fine Art preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience with modern product design tools required: Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Experience Design or similar
  • Experience with basic or robust prototyping tools preferred: InVision, Marvel, Principle, Framer, Craft or similar
  • Experience with basic front-end engineering highly desired: HTML, CSS, JavaScript or similar
  • Blurring the lines between UX and UI, you understand form and function as connected disciplines, and can demonstrate both with distinction; you have an eye for visual detail, and you fuss over micro interactions
  • Experience in the digital space required, with a portfolio including a handful of real, shipped digital products from end to end that are well designed in form as well as function, that real people use
  • Ability to distill complex processes into simple, clear, user interactions

  • 7+ years of experience as a Visual Designer with a solid presentation & narrative background
  • Substantial portfolio that demonstrates strong visual presentation, pitch, and storytelling
  • Expertise with taking complex financial data and turning it into effective and clear visuals
  • Experience creating high-level data visualizations and infographics
  • Proficient in Keynote, PowerPoint and Google Slides
  • Experience with modern product design tools required: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.
  • Video, production, motion graphics and 3D rendering a strong plus
  • Experience working quickly and efficiently, and keeping pace in a lightning-fast startup environment
  • Can take direction well and feedback
  • Ability to take initiative, ask necessary questions about projects and be proactive
  • Blend of agency, startup and/or corporate experience highly desired
  • You are highly organized, capable of wrangling even the most complex data sets into a simple and easy to understand story
  • You have a track record of successfully working with a wide range of clients and stakeholders across different disciplines and at different levels
  • You are a proactive problem-solver and react quickly to new information and direction and seamlessly adapt to change
  • You pay attention to even the smallest detail and refuse to settle for anything less than perfection
  • You have an eagle eye for visual nuance, and an obsessive attention to detail, excellent written communication & documentation skills  
  • You are ambitiously curious, always learning, “ good enough” is never enough, and you drive towards constant, relentless improvement both in the work and yourself
