Senior SQL Server Database Developer 

Our client provides early education programs and schools that include world-class curriculum and knowledgeable child development professionals that meet the needs of children at every age and stage.

Located in Watertown, MA.

Primary Purpose

The Senior SQL Server Database Developer will be involved in all facets of product development (functional and technical specification, design, development, implementation, testing, and deployment) to build and support data-driven Windows applications, WCF services and BI using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2/2012.

Major Functions/Responsibilities

•     Lead database development by working with other software developers
•     Enhance and drive existing database development operations and processes towards best practices
•     Keep current with latest versions of database techniques and practices.
•     Lead database and reporting development projects and ensure successful project delivery
•     Conduct data architecture, design and code reviews and provide feedback on database engineering best practices 
•     Design, and develop database and reporting systems and subsystems while taking into consideration business needs, integration, quality, and performance
•     Assists with database monitoring, backup/recovery, indexing, platform upgrades, version migration, and new platform install/configuration
•     Partner with senior staff to troubleshoot SQL Server outages and performance problems as well as Disaster Recovery testing and planning


•     B.S   in Software Engineering or Computer Science with 5 or more years RDBMS experience in Microsoft SQL Server
•     Working experience with the following core technologies: SQL Server 2008 R2/2012, Visual Studio 2010/2012, SQL Server Data Tools & Team Foundation Server
•     Expert T-SQL development skills including query optimization, stored procedures, views, functions and triggers
•     Ability to read, interpret, and improve query execution plans
•     Demonstrated experience in analyzing, designing and supporting applications that interface with the database
•     Skilled in database architecture and design principles including relational database design, views, indexes, joins
•     Demonstrated experience in refactoring, testing, debugging and optimizing SQL code
