Job Description

This position will document, maintain, and integrate disparate databases of telephony and data network infrastructure. Engineer will work closely with the Network Engineering team in the proper design and implementation of network infrastructure to support an enterprise wide telephony platform, including wireless considerations. Further, using “Best Practice” decision support techniques, this person will work to discover further efficiencies in work-flow of Active Directory information distribution to support various systems such as notification and UC. This will provide efficiencies in eliminating redundant systems data entry and provide timely dissemination of vital information.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, this position will lead and/or administer projects in the following areas - but not limited to:
  • Avaya Aura solutions (Communication Manager, System/Session Manager, Messaging).
  • Deployment of SIP technologies and
  • Enterprise Dial Plan redesign and
  • Avaya Blue to Red, (Nortel to Aura)
  • Unified Communications (UC) solutions and
Must also be skilled in:
  • Serving as project manager coordinating Telecom requirements for installs and
  • Implementing, administering and troubleshooting Avaya’s voice systems and coordinate resolution of related
  • Analyzing current configurations and recommending upgrades and changes to system, as the client needs
  • Assisting in troubleshooting day to day telephony issues reported by end users and/or technical
  • Participating in technical training sessions relating to integrated telephony
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D) 
    • May include specialized or vocational courses
  • Candidate will preferably be Avaya certified. Contact Center and related applications (i.e. Multi-Channel Elite) familiarity and certification a plus. Current Avaya/IT certifications and or working experience supporting Avaya applications and solutions.
  • Five years minimum experience required 
  • Must have experience with Avaya Aura Core telephony infrastructure and
  • Strong project management skills, (PMP a plus).
  • Functional understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DHCP, SIP, 323; as well as experience with ISDN PRI and TDM voice technologies.
  • Familiarity with voice firewalls, a
  • Background in TDM to SIP migration on both station and trunk side a
  • Strong understanding of dial plan design and modification in a multi-site, multi-LATA, enterprise
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Design principles as applied to voice and data
  • Must be proficient user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook), as well as Visio and MS Familiarity with SharePoint, a plus.
