Senior Editor, Finance (Evening Shift)
Location: Remote (U.S. – Eastern Time preferred)
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract with potential for extension. Full-time 40 hours.
Rate: $47-49/hr
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Editor with a passion for financial news and a sharp eye for digital storytelling to help shape the future of our coverage. In this role, you will oversee the afternoon and evening publishing cycle, ensuring our homepage, front page modules, and editorial products reflect the most timely, accurate, and engaging content for our audience.

This position is ideal for a finance-savvy newsroom leader who thrives on deadline pressure, understands digital distribution, and knows how to make financial news accessible and compelling to millions of readers.

What You’ll Do

  • Run the finance homepage and related sections during afternoon/evening (ET) hours.

  • Curate, edit, and package stories to deliver timely and accurate coverage.

  • Write sharp, engaging headlines and ensure all stories meet editorial quality standards.

  • Edit stories for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and style.

  • Monitor breaking news and market developments to inform editorial decisions.

  • Ensure proper handoffs with other front page and editorial team members.

  • Collaborate across editorial, social, and distribution channels to maximize reach and engagement.

  • Support push alerts, data-driven publishing, and other distribution efforts.

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of editorial experience at a media organization, with a strong background in finance, markets, or business news.

  • Strong copy-editing skills with mastery of grammar, style, and accuracy.

  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to make fast, high-stakes editorial decisions.

  • Proven experience in headline writing, SEO optimization, and audience engagement.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while juggling multiple priorities.

  • Enthusiasm for financial news and the ability to explain complex topics clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience editing a homepage or front page for a major news outlet.
