CAD Engineer Location: Durham, NC Work days/hours: Mon-Fri 8am - 5 PM Hybrid role - 2-3 days a week at the office/remaining days remote
As a CAD Engineer in our Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team, you will utilize your extensive knowledge and experience in Mechanical design to support both novel and complex assignments that require the development of new or improved products, techniques, and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide technical leadership on multiple projects simultaneously.
Performs CAD modeling of electromechanical assemblies to support the release of new designs and creates improvements to existing designs.
Create 3D parts and drawings using Solidworks
Verify Form and fit completeness and consistency of dimensioning of drawings
Submit drawings to relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with other stakeholders during engineering change order
Verify Form and fit completeness and consistency of dimensioning of drawings
Collaborate with PCB and electronic engineering teams
Identify potential cost reductions and propose remediations
Lead and mentor junior CAD Engineer and associates on technical and programmatic related challenges.
Analyze and recommend solutions for manufacturing process, and DFMA
Support manufacturing with assembly of new components
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree and experience.
At least 6 years related experience, or the equivalent combination of graduate- level education and experience required.
Technical leadership experience in a highly focused cross-functional team environment on a large development project is preferred.
Experience with mechanical CAD tools, SolidWorks, FEA, material selection, sheet metal design and fabrication, plastic injection molded part design tooling and qualification; tolerance analysis, GD&T.
DFSS and Labview experience would be plus
Experience in medical device industry would be plus Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft office products, Vizio, Adobe, MiniTab, Solidworks
Demonstrate ability to successfully influence people and teams at all levels without direct authority.
Ability to apply sophisticated mathematical concepts to such tasks as statics, kinetics, strength of materials reliability testing, analysis of variance, correlation studies and sampling theory, statistical analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and determine root cause.
Ability to generate presentations and technical articles for limited publication.
Ability to present technical information and to effectively present proposals.
