Internal Communications Manager – Healthcare Client

Scope: 3-month Contract-to-Hire
Targeted Hourly Rate while on contract: $48-$52
Targeted Salary Range $100k to $110k, commiserate with relevant experience
Our client in healthcare is looking for a skilled communicator and people leader to manage their Internal Communications team. In this role, you will lead a team of writers delivering clear, timely, and engaging communications to more than 41,000 team members across the organization. You will drive key initiatives in change management, executive communications, and video content — all aligned to the mission and strategic priorities.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Internal Communications, this is a primarily on-site position that requires flexibility to support urgent communication needs, including during incident command. Writing samples will be requested from candidates.
Key responsibilities
Write and edit complex messages across internal communication channels, maintaining confidentiality as required
Consult with stakeholders enterprise-wide to identify communication needs and opportunities
Partner directly with leadership to develop targeted communication plans for major projects and initiatives
Collaborate with the Manager of Video Production on team member video projects
Coordinate and facilitate special projects; partner with the event manager to host two annual leadership events
Support award nominations for local and national programs that showcase the organization and its leadership
Manage department budget and exercise sound cost-control across all projects
Oversee HR functions for direct reports, including hiring, work assignments, coaching, and performance counseling
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
7+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or journalism
Proven track record in developing and executing accurate, well-written communication deliverables
Demonstrated leadership experience with direct reports
Strong strategic planning skills with a history of meeting goals
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and social media platforms
