Marketing Project Manager
Job Description:
The Marketing Project Manager is responsible for managing medium to high-level marketing campaigns. The candidate uses strong project management knowledge and principles to actively manage campaigns against defined objectives and goals. As an astute problem-solver, this position continuously mitigates project development and execution risks. The incumbent develops solutions and maintains communication with internal and external project stakeholders and suppliers on project status, resourcing, issues, and threats to ensure projects meet objectives and are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage medium to high-level (complexity, scale, strategic importance, and visibility) Marketing campaigns supporting advertising, product packaging, store environment, the weekly ad, and special projects. Campaign teams include Marketing associates representing numerous marketing disciplines.
  • Develop detailed project plans using project management principles. This includes schedule development based on an evaluation of campaign inputs, resource assignments, and management of all supporting information and deliverables within the project management system.
  • Lead campaign initiation and execution, fostering collaboration between team members, ensuring transparency through effective routine and ad-hoc communication, and identifying and mitigating risks in order to complete campaigns on strategy, on time, and on budget.
  • Foster effective team dynamics of trust, respect, and accountability through strong professional relationships and a thorough understanding of the campaign strategy and line of business being supported.
  • Lead annual and quarterly planning of marketing campaigns and special projects for assigned lines of business. This also includes management of ad hoc requests and changes to planned activities due to shifts in business priorities.
  • Engage suppliers (advertising agencies, digital production agencies, print suppliers, etc.) to ensure adherence to established project plans. This includes managing campaign deliverables such as statements of work and requests for quotes.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of project management experience.
  • Verbal Communication: The ability to orally present and express ideas and information clearly, politely, and concisely, in a manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Written Communication: The ability to prepare clear, accurate, understandable, and professional written text in English, using appropriate level of detail for the intended audience, and following the basic rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation to convey information.  This may include e-mail, communications for associates, reports, and professional or general correspondence.
  • Project Management: Strong Knowledge of the project management discipline and principles, including Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Human Resource Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, Project Procurement Management, and Project Stakeholders Management.
  • Building Relationships: The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, positive, and productive working relationships with associates, managers, customers, and vendors.  This includes being approachable and taking time to address concerns; presenting your point of view in a professional manner; treating others with respect and dignity and expressing empathy and compassion when dealing with the needs and problems of others.
  • Influence and Persuasion: The ability to persuade, convince or achieve buy-in from others.  This includes having the desire to have a specific impact or effect on others in making a point or convincing them to take action. 
  • Flexibility/Adaptability: The ability and willingness to adjust one's style or approach in response to differing circumstances or to work in ambiguous situations. This includes being open to change and new information; adapting behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, priorities, procedures or unexpected obstacles; and adjusting rapidly to new situations warranting attention and resolution. 
  • Strong knowledge of marketing disciplines and principles.
