The main function of a Modeler is to develop three-dimensional (3D) clay model development of scale and full size exterior and interior models of proposed corporate products. A typical modeler is responsible for assisting studio personnel in developing solutions to engineering and design problems. Operate a Clay Milling Machine, clay model surfacing, model presentation, and collaborate with automotive designers and engineers.
Responsibilities
Could work on multiple projects at the same time (3 or 4)
Works with a milling lead and review the tasks and what needs to be completed
Supports the day shift Clay Sculptors
Safety oriented
Runs the milling machine
Innovates and shares tips and tricks
Hand modeling | Hand cleanup for showings (rarely will happen)
Experience
5 years of experience within Milling
Technical proficiency in the use of 3 and/or 5 axis CNC milling equipment
Provide very high-quality milled surfaces for clay models
Experienced in CAM programming
High School Diploma | Doesn’t have to have a degree
