Assistant Manager, Product Development

Contract: 5-Months
Pay Rate: $25/hr
Location: On-site in NYC
We are seeking an Assistant Manager of Product Development to support the development and execution of apparel products from concept through production. In this role, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams including Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, Quality, Fabric R&D, and Global Sourcing to ensure products are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and align with cost targets.
The ideal candidate has experience in apparel product development, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced, global environment.
What You’ll Do
Support the end-to-end product development process, ensuring products move through the pipeline and meet key product-to-market (P2M) milestones
Collaborate with Design, Merchandising, and Technical Design teams to align on product requirements and development timelines
Coordinate communication between brand teams and overseas vendors or Asia-based product teams
Assist with garment costing and cost tracking, ensuring alignment with financial targets
Maintain and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and product details within PLM systems
Monitor development calendars and escalate risks impacting timelines or delivery
Help resolve product execution or production issues with sourcing and vendor partners
Support seasonal product strategies while managing potential material or fabric liabilities
Ensure product development activities align with production strategy, vendor capabilities, and category goals
Qualifications
Experience in apparel product development, sourcing, or product management
Understanding of the apparel development lifecycle, from concept through production
Familiarity with PLM systems and BOM management
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as design, merchandising, and sourcing
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience working with global vendors or overseas manufacturing partners preferred
Preferred Experience
Apparel or fashion industry experience
Knowledge of garment costing and vendor sourcing
Experience supporting product-to-market calendars and seasonal development cycles
Exposure to working with Asia-based manufacturing partners
