Role (i.e., what will they do, who are their peers):
Grow a cell and battery testing lab (initially starting with single-layer cell testing)
Identify and lead setting up the lab equipment for cell manufacturing and basic cycling testing.
Design cell testing experiments to determine the electrical performance of a novel separator and be able to interpret said cell cycling test data
Collate and present information about novel separator and lead product development/sampling activities with new customers and US Government labs
Support pilot line trials on various nonwoven manufacturing and converting processes through external vendors
Responsibilities (e.g., revenues, budget, # & type of staff, etc.):
Ability to make various form-factors of Lithium-Ion batteries, including coin, prismatic and pouch cells
Proficiency with working in dry room environment and working with Lithium and electrolytes
Ability to design cell cycling testing and analysis
Relationships (i.e., who they interact with and nature of relationship):
R&D Teams, assist developers during trials, commercialization of products or specification modifications
Operations: Support line technicians, process engineers, supervisors and line managers during trials, commercialization of products or specification modifications
Sales: Provide technical support for sales managers, as necessary
Customers: Provide technical support for customers’ R&D organizations, as necessary
Suppliers: Technical contact point for suppliers, along with other R&D developers

Experience Required:
3+ years of experience in Battery lab environment in a hands-on setting
3+ years of experience working in a fast-paced product development environment for battery components
Experience Desired:
Experience in nonwovens manufacturing and converting
Experience in fibers, particularly melt spun fibers and associated nonwovens from them
Education Required:
Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Masters Degree in allied field a substitute for work experience
Education Desired:
Degree in Electrochemistry, Polymer/Fiber Science, Nonwovens
